Breakfast options under 100 calories

BREAKFAST - the most important meal of the day.

So you're in a calorie deficit (key to losing body fat, throwing out more calories than you're taking in) and wondering what your options are. Here are some of my favourite low calorie breakfast options to start your day

  • Fruit and yoghurt: 3 tablespoons of low fat greek yoghurt with either; 50g blackberries/ blueberries, 1/2 diced mango, 1 diced kiwi, 12 medium strawberries, 1 fresh apricot (or mix and match)
  • Scrambled egg with mushroom/ spinach: 1 medium egg, scrambled; 2 cups of spinach or 100g fresh chopped mushrooms (or mix and match)
  • Omelette: 1 medium egg omelette with 100g fresh chopped mushrooms or 2 cups spinach (or mix and match)
  • Porridge: 25g porridge oats with water + 1/2 tablespoon of honey + optional cinnamon
  • Beans on toast: 1 slice wholemeal bread from a small loaf + 50g of baked beans
  • 1 large boiled egg
  • 1 small banana with 1/2 tablespoon of honey
  • 300g of watermelon

When trying to lose weight with no strict diet in place, you need to calculate your BMR (basal metabolic rate) and use this to track your calorie intake. Your BMR is the rate at which your body is naturally burning off calories per day, therefore it is THE most crucial calculation to losing weight. What we want to be aiming for is a calorie deficit, where we are burning off more calories than we are putting into our bodies (makes sense doesn't it?)

Feel free to drop an email if you have any questions on how to calculate your BMR or keep your calorie output up. If you think you're ready, then sign up using the links to my online packages now
